Handheld or Tablet
Nowadays, in direct customer contact tablets instead of traditional handhelds, PDAs or other data collection variants are increasingly being used, for example, in sales offices, hospitals and retail stores.
Tablets are also used for navigation in vehicles.
The devices are comfortable to operate due to their comparatively large display, but smaller and lighter than, for example, a notebook.
For the scanning of bar codes, especially in large numbers and fast sequence, tablets are often not the best choice. Although there are devices available on the market that support this functionality. However, these are usually only used for specific areas of application due to their high acquisition costs.
Suitable for scanning applications and usually the more cost-effective solution are conventional handheld terminals with or without hardware keyboard, pure hand scanners or scan terminals.

Handheld with hardware keyboard or smartphone style
Today a wide range of devices that can cover both areas is available to those who would like to use mobile data collection devices both in the truck and in the warehouse.
In terms of their resilience, the new industrial smartphones today hardly differ from conventional handheld terminals. Most screens are comfortable to use with both stylus and fingers, as well as gloves, and can be used in the same environments as traditional industrial handhelds.
Especially employees with a lot of customer contact - for example in the courier express parcel industry (CEP) - benefit from the large displays of the devices in multiple ways, e.g. in capturing signatures, documents and damage photographs.
For the use of industrial handhelds and smartphones in the warehouse, we also offer special scan handles in our portfolio, which enable a more ergonomic, fatigue-free scanning of barcodes even in larger quantities.
In addition, you will find clever vehicle cradles and other accessories to enhance the functionality of your hardware.
Mobile Handheld or Forklift Terminal
If mobile terminals are specifically required for use in forklift trucks in the warehouse, special fork-lift terminals may be appropriate. In contrast to the mobile handheld, the forklift terminal is usually fixed to the vehicle in most cases. There are also solutions in which the stacker terminal can be easily removed using a special holder and fixed in another stacker.
Forklift terminals are distinguished by their large, easy-to-read display. Extras, such as anti-frost functions in the display, allow unhindered data acquisition over long periods of time even in cooling houses. Quickly replaceable displays reduce repair costs and speed up the repair process in case of damage.
Decisive for the selection of a new device generation should not only be the application area. It should also be checked whether the hardware can easily be integrated into the existing IT infrastructure.
Is it necessary, for example, to connect to the corporate WLAN or additionally to a data transmission via mobile radio? Is a hand scanner required for the device and if so wired or wireless? Do cameras have to be connected?
